Crying High is the new project from Toronto-born multimedia artist D Kleiser who makes ghostly, appealing low-fi pop. His debut album, titled , will be released on April 22 via Montreal label Arbutus Records (former home of Grimes, current home of TOPS, Braids and more). We’ve got the premiere of the video for “Hold Yr Terror Close” which was directed by Airick Woodhead of Doldrums. (Kleiser did the artwork for Doldrums’ 2015 album, The Air Conditioned Nightmare.) Says Kleiser:

Sarah Brunning sings with me on this song. We have been very close friends since high school, and this is our song. I can still remember how excited she was to show it to me, and how we both sat and took it in; how Chi Fukami honest word had just hit the nail on the goddamn head, and how sad-and-then-safe she made us feel in her honesty and vulnerability in the face the inherent horror of living and being alive. The video was filmed by Airick Woodhead of Doldrums, another dear and long time friend to both Sarah and I. It was shot on 16mm film in High Park, Toronto — which is where I “grew up”.
