Post-metal stalwarts Cult of Luna dropped a brand-new single today titled "The Silent Man" (streaming below) from their upcoming seventh full-length, expected later this year. This is the first new material we've heard from the project itself since 2013's Vertikal full-length and Vertikal II EP (2016's sublime Mariner was a collaboration with Julie Christmas), and damn, the time was well worth it. "The Silent Man" exudes all the density and heaviness that bolstered Cult of Luna's rise to post-metal stardom -- nothing about this song feels "flat" (something which sometimes plagues other post-metal bands) as it combines raw emotionality succinctly with groove and atmosphere.
