Bay Area punks Culture Abuse released their very good debut album Peach in 2016 via 6131, and then like fellow former 6131 bands/past tourmates Touche Amore and Joyce Manor, they signed to Epitaph. Their first releases since the signing were two collaborative songs with Wavves, and now they’re finally set to release their first full-length for the label. It’s called Bay Dream, and it comes out June 15. It was produced, engineered and mixed by Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, M83), and the punk band cite such diverse influences as Sly and the Family Stone, Paul Simon and reggae vet Billy Boyo for this one. The first single is “Calm E,” which is an instantly catchy surf-punk ripper, the kind of thing you might expect from a band who’s fresh off touring and collaborating with Wavves. It’s some of the better stuff of its kind to come out in a while, and it’s making me pretty excited for this record. Listen below.

As mentioned, Culture Abuse are touring with Turnstile, Touche Amore and Razorbumps this year, and that incredible quadruple bill hits Brooklyn on May 5 at Warsaw (tickets). After that, Culture Abuse will tour Europe, including one leg with The Bronx and one with Modern Life Is War and Cro-Mags. All dates are listed below.
