Following splits with Matthew Caws, Meredith Graves and Tigers Jaw, the next in Kevin Devine‘s Devinyl Splits series is with Cymbals Eat Guitars and it’s due out November 13 via Bad Timing Records (pre-order). CEG’s contribution, “Aerobed,” is out now and it’s their first song released since last year’s excellent LOSE (one of our favorite albums of 2014).

If you like LOSE, you’re definitely going to like “Aerobed.” It starts out as a soft acoustic song, but it explodes into the kind of cathartic release you might expect from CEG’s and KD’s past tourmates Brand New. This is no throwaway one-off track, it’s on par with the band’s best moments to date. Listen below (via Spin).

UPDATE: Turns out Brand New singer Jesse Lacey actually produced it (!) and BN collaborator Mike Sapone recorded it.

They also announced that they signed to Sinderlyn, a new-ish label started by Captured Tracks label head Mike Sniper (which Alex Bleeker and the Freaks are now also on). A new album is expected in 2016.

Kevin’s upcoming fifth installment is with Owen and there’s a sixth TBA, and all six artists will be playing BrooklynVegan-presented release shows with KD in Brooklyn (12/11), Philly (12/12) and Cambridge (12/13).

CEG also have a hometown show sooner than that on November 7 at Rough Trade NYC with Solvey and Painted Zeros. Tickets are still available.
