Cyndi Lauper, Ciara & more to perform at WorldPride benefit concert

2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and half a century of LGBTQ liberation, and to mark the occasion NYC is hosting an enormous WorldPride celebration. To kick off the festivities, the “official opening ceremony” of WorldPride has been announced, a big concert at Barclays Center on June 26 with performances from Cyndi Lauper, Ciara, Todrick Hall, and DJ Lina, with more to be announced. Whoopi Goldberg is hosting the show, and ticket sales go to support three NYC-based LGBTQ organizations: Ali Forney Center, Immigration Equality, and SAGE. Tickets to WorldPride Opening Ceremony go on sale Friday 4/12 at 10 AM.

Another WorldPride event, music festival Pride Island, which happens June 29-30 at Pier 97 Hudson River Park, also got a lineup update. The headliner for Sunday (6/30) is still TBA, but Kim Petras has been added to Saturday, which also includes sets from Grace Jones, Teyana Taylor, Pabllo Vittar, Amara La Negra, and Johnny Dynell. Tickets to both nights are sold out.

Speaking of Cyndi Lauper, Boy George, Carly Rae Jepsen, Estelle, Bridget Everett, Nona Hendryx and more are performing at a Carnegie Hall tribute show to her later this month.
