Gabriel “Gabi” Delgado-López, vocalist and one half of pioneering German electronic duo D.A.F. has died at age 61. The news was confirmed by D.A.F’s Robert Görl who wrote on Facebook, “Got word today my long time friend and bandmate Gabi Delgado passed away last night.”

Having moved from Spain to Germany when he was a child, Gabi formed D.A.F. (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft) with Görl in 1978 and released stark, dark, danceable records for Mute, Virgin and other labels. D.A.F. were to have played their first-ever U.S. show a year ago in Los Angeles but the show (a make-up show for a canceled 2018 appearance) was canceled last minute due to visa issues.

Rest in peace, Gabi.
