The Chicago stop of Daniel Johnston's final tour in 2017 had the cult artist backed by Tweedy (Jeff & Spencer TweedyJames ElkingtonLiam Kazar, and Darin Gray) and that show will be released as a vinyl only live album, titled Chicago 2017, on January 31 via dBpm. It features 14 Johnston songs (and a cover of The Beatles' "I'm So Tired"). Nine of those tracks were performed live at The Vic Theatre, with an additional five recorded the previous day at Wilco’s Chicago studio, The Loft. “There is and was only one Daniel and to be able to work with him and help present his music was a huge honor for me and the band, one for which we are all very thankful," says Jeff Tweedy. You can listen to "Worried Shoes" from the album below.

Chicago 2017 is limited to 2000 black, white and blue splatter vinyl copies, and proceeds benefit  the Hi, How Are You Project which was started with the support of Daniel (who died last year) and his family and "inspires new conversations around mental health issues by funding and creating thoughtful media content, projects and events." Meanwhile, Joyful Noise is reissuing Daniel Johnston & Jad Fair's 1990 album It's Spooky which will mark the first time its been available on vinyl in 30 years.
