NYC's basement comedy club Comedy Cellar (the first place I ever saw Louis CK before he was so famous) continues to be a very special place where you never know what will happen. Von Decarlo, who also performed, described Saturday night like this:

What an amazing night at [Comedy Cellar]. Dave Chapelle x Chris Rock hit the stage & did dual stand up. Then was joined by Aziz Ansari. Yes, they did stand up x 3. And as if the night could be any more impromptu & amazing, John Mayer hit the stage after running several blocks to get his guitar, accompanied by Cory Henry on piano. From that point, it was an all out jam session of songs mixed with comedy. Also standing in the hallways with me watching this astounding moment were comedians Greer Barnes, Michelle Wolf, Godfrey, & Ardie Fuqua, just to name a few. My favorite part of the evening was creep'n on Cipha Sounds taking a cat nap on the Cellar stairs while this amazing memory was happening. The entire evening was hosted by Wil Sylvince. Last time I saw Chappell make #ComedyCellar history like this was over a decade ago when I was there with Patrice. That was an all nighter as well. As Chapelle said tonight, "Cool shit just happens when I'm around". He's damn sure right about that. Cool shit definitely happens when he's around. I'm happy I was there for another surreal moment. There is NOTHING BETTER THAN LIVING THE COMEDY LIFE. I have to be in the city early af. I think I'm gonna just sleep in my car and rock out my shows in my yesterdiddy clothes... #Blessings #StayInTheLight #IGstories

Someone else in attendance wrote:

Last night might have been the most ridiculous evening I've ever had. Just wanted to hear a few jokes so I ended up at the Comedy Cellar. Little did I know that I was talking to a guy about Dave Chappelle and cracking my own jokes and not only did I get to meet Dave but watched him get on stage and perform with Aziz, Chris Rock, and John Mayer for 3 HOURS!!! All on stage together at the same time just talking shit, cracking jokes on each other, playing music, and singing songs like they are chillin at home in the basement. It was so surreal.

Chappelle and John Mayer both played the Roots Picnic festival in Bryant Park earlier in the day, both with the Roots. JamBase was there:

After the [John] Mayer-led portion of the set, John stayed out to help out The Roots on a song before old Roots member Rahzel emerged to do some amazing beat boxing. As he finished up everyone came back out, but there was still no D’Angelo. Comedian Dave Chappelle came out to stall for time and told some jokes starting with, “I’m only out here for two reasons: Kevin Hart couldn’t make it and D’Angelo is late.” A few minutes later D’Angelo came on stage and played a fantastic set.
