Comedian Dave Chappelle had a busy and music-filled week in NYC surrounding the Grammys, including a surprise appearance at one of The Roots' Jam Sessions at Gramercy Theatre, and a few notable appearances during the Grammy Awards ceremony. He took home the award for Best Comedy Album, had a part in Kendrick Lamar's powerful performance, and he shouted out A Tribe Called Quest (who the Grammys snubbed) when announcing the nominees for Best Rap Album.

But that wasn't all. Like he is is known to do, he threw his own late-night "Revival Jam Session" the day before the Grammys (1/27 from 11:30 PM to 4 AM), which was announced with a secret NYC location and a mostly secret lineup. The only billed names were jazz harmonicist Frederic Yonnet (who hosted), "The Band with No Name," and veteran hip hop DJ D-Nice. It ended up happening at Mission Nightclub, and the surprise guests were were not surprising for a party thrown by Dave Chappelle, but still pretty insane. They included the legendary Stevie Wonder, as well as Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Donnell Rawlings (aka Ashy Larry from Chappelle's Show), Bilal, Bryan Michael Cox, and more. "The Band With No Name" ended up being Frederic Yonnet with Robert Glasper and Corey Henry. Other big-name people (like Jerry Seinfeld) were in the house too.

D-Nice wrote on Instagram:

Congrats to #DaveChappelle on winning his 1st Grammy! As promised, here are more images from his pre-Grammy event produced by [Carla Sims] & [Frederic Yonnet]. Whenever we post a flyer for Chappelle’s Juke Joint or Chappelle’s Revival, do yourself a favor and attend. After my DJ set, [Neal Brennan] told me that [Jerry Seinfeld] paid me the ultimate compliment. He said that I was the best DJ he had ever heard. Wow!

You can see a video and a bunch of his and other pics from the party below:
