David Bazan covers Now, Now for split with Kevin Devine (listen)

Kevin Devine is continuing his 2018 edition of the Devinyl Splits split 7″ series on July 27 with fellow veteran indie/emo singer/songwriter David Bazan (of the reunited Pedro the Lion). For this split, both artists are covering songs from Now, Now‘s 2012 album Threads. Now, Now toured opening for Kevin Devine years ago, and they are probably definitely influenced by Pedro the Lion, so this is a cool torch-passing moment. The first taste of the split is Bazan’s rendition of Now, Now’s “Thread,” and the soaring rocker sounds great with Bazan’s somber baritone. Listen below.

Pedro the Lion are touring for much of this year, including a run with H.C. McEntire, which hits NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on 8/14 (tickets) and Music Hall of Williamsburg on 8/15 (tickets). PTL are also working on their first album since 2004, which will come out on Polyvinyl.

Kevin Devine has upcoming dates too, including one of the “Bell House Summer Series at Industry City” shows on 8/23 with Remember Sports (tickets), the recently-announced Riot Fest, and more.
