‘David Bowie Is’ VR mobile app being released in January

The travelling 'David Bowie Is' exhibit -- which wrapped up its multi-city run in Brooklyn this summer -- will live on as a virtual reality app for mobile devices. They've just announced that the app will be released on January 8, which would've been Bowie's 72nd birthday. A joint venture between the David Bowie Archive and Sony Music Japan, the 'David Bowie Is' app will feature the show's costumes, videos, handwritten lyrics, original works of art, Bowie's music and narration, and everything the physical exhibit had. There will even be more, actually, with dozens of items not in the original show. There are over 500 high-resolution captures as part of the app.
