David Bowie: “without Little Richard, myself and half of my contemporaries wouldn’t be playing music”
The late Little Richard basically wrote the blueprint on what it means to be a rock star, as probably every rock star would be quick to tell you. David Bowie was no exception; he reminisced in this 1991 interview about the first time he picked up a Little Richard record, and he said "without him, I think myself and half of my contemporaries wouldn't be playing music. And it's unbelievable that he doesn't have a Grammy." Watch that interview above.
In 2003, Bowie also included The Fabulous Little Richard in a list of his 25 favorite albums.
Bowie and Richard, we miss you both.
