David Byrne played Chicago (pics), did Prince karaoke in Portland (watch!)
David Byrne is currently in the midst of his visually striking, "untethered" American Utopia tour which hit Chicago's Auditorium Theatre for three nights (June 1-3). The setlist has been pretty much the same since the start of the tour, with David and the 12 musicians in his band playing a mix of new songs from American Utopia, lots of Talking Heads material, plus older solo stuff, and songs from his records with St. Vincent and Fatboy Slim, plus a cover of Janelle Monae's "Hell You Talmbout." Setlist is below and pictures from the first Chicago show (6/1), which was with Benjamin Clementine, are in the gallery above.
During the tour's stop in Portland, David took time out to hit a tiki-themed karaoke bar where he sang Prince's "When Doves Cry." Dig, if you will, a bit of that performance in fan-captured video below.
The American Utopia tour hits NYC for Panorama fest in July and will then be back for shows at Kings Theatre and Forest Hills Stadium in September.
