Dead Prez

Dead Prez playing 'Let's Get Free' 20th anniversary shows; Talib Kweli touring

Hip hop vets Dead Prez‘s classic debut album Let’s Get Free turns 20 this year, and the duo have lined up some shows to celebrate. They’ve got NYC and DC shows in April that are explicitly billed as Let’s Get Free shows, and a Massachusetts show right in between that doesn’t appear to be billed that way.

The NYC show is at Sony Hall on April 17 with support from Nas’ “Life’s A Bitch” collaborator AZ and a DJ set from Talib Kweli (tickets). DC is at Howard Theatre on 4/15 (tickets) and MA is at Hawks and Reed on 4/16 (tickets).

In related news, Dead Prez’s M-1 and Ice-T will both join jazz guitarist Fabrizio Sotti (who they’ve worked with together in the past) at Sony Hall on June 12 (tickets). That appears to be Fabrizio’s only upcoming show at the moment, but Ice-T also has Body Count shows.

As for Talib Kweli, he’s hitting the road this year as well, including two full-band shows at Brooklyn Bowl on June 4 & 5. Tickets to both shows are on sale now.

Also catch Talib’s Black Star partner Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) on tour during his Northeastern run this month, including Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on March 26 (tickets).
