Deafheaven Black Brick

Deafheaven share heavy new song "Black Brick"

Last year Deafheaven released their fourth album Ordinary Corrupt Human Love, which saw them writing some of their most atmospheric music yet and incorporating more clean vocals than ever before. Now they’ve released an outtake from the album, “Black Brick,” which is one of the heaviest songs they’ve ever released, even compared to their very heavy 2015 album New Bermuda. It’s darker and more evil than Deafheaven almost ever sound, with mile-a-minute thrash riffs, metalcore chugs, and other devil horn-worthy sounds worked in to their usual post-black metal approach. It’s the first song they released since being nominated for a Grammy (but losing to High On Fire), and if you thought Grammy exposure would make them want to go in an even softer direction, you thought wrong. Listen to the killer new song for yourself below.

As mentioned, Deafheaven are going on a co-headlining tour with Baroness, which Zeal & Ardor is opening. That includes NYC-area shows at Starland Ballroom on April 5 and Terminal 5 on April 12 (tickets).

Deafheaven and Baroness also both play Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in Philly right after the Terminal 5 show. Deafheaven are also playing other festivals like Psycho Las Vegas and Bonnaroo, and they’re doing a short run of shows around Bonnaroo with Gojira (the only other metal band playing Bonnaroo). All dates are listed below.
