Destroyer Tinseltown Swimming in Blood

Destroyer share "Tinseltown Swimming in Blood" from new LP, announce 2018 tour

Destroyer‘s highly anticipated new album, ken, will be out October 20 via Merge/Dead Oceans, and they’ve just released new single “Tinseltown Swimming in Blood,” which has an almost early-’80s goth vibe. The video for that song is a series of intercut black and white stills that may remind cinephiles of something…director Karen Zolo talks a little about its famous inspiration:

I’d just had a conversation about artist Chris Marker with a friend when I was approached to make a music video for the upcoming Destroyer album. ‘You have a month.’ Okay… I had no idea what the song even sounded like, but the only idea I had was to remake Chris Marker’s La Jetée as faithfully as possible. It’s not just an homage to the great cine-poet; it’s also about the medium of film, about still photography. It would have been a billion times easier and less stressful to shoot it digitally, but it was worth it.

Dan Bejar and his Destroyer band have just announced 2018 North American tour dates with Mega Bog opening, and they’ll play NYC on January 27 at Brooklyn Steel. Tickets for that show are on AmEx presale now and the general on-sale begins Friday (9/15) at noon.
