Dinosaur Jr. were just in the NYC area, playing a free show at House of Vans before shows as part of their tour with Jane’s Addiction. They hit the Ford Amphitheatre at Coney Island Boardwalk, Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, and Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre. Pictures from their show at The Cap on 7/17 are in the gallery above. Pics of Jane’s set, and a review of the Coney show is on the way.

If you’d like to catch J, Lou and Murph somewhere smaller in NYC, they’ve just announced they’ll be playing Rough Trade on Friday, August 5 with Those Pretty Wrongs. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, July 22 at noon with an AmEx presale beginning Wednesday, July 20 at noon. Updated tour dates are listed below.

That NYC date is the release show for Dinosaur Jr’s new album Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not which is out that day via Jagjaguwar. The band recently released an edit of the album containing just the guitar solos. You can stream that, all six minutes and 49 seconds of shredding, and watch the skateboarding dog video for “Tiny” below.
