Dirty Projectors played 3 Elsewhere shows w/ Lower Dens (pics, setlists, videos)
Dirty Projectors just wrapped up a three-show run at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere in support of their new album Lamp Lit Prose, which included afternoon and nighttime shows on Sunday (11/18) and another show Monday night (11/19). Dream pop staples Lower Dens opened all shows.
DP did a pretty great job of mixing up the setlists between the three shows, and they worked in a few surprises too. The encore at the Sunday night show included a cover of Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney’s “FourFiveSeconds” (which Dave Longstreth co-wrote and co-produced), their David Byrne collaboration “Knotty Pine” from Dark Was the Night, and an appearance by Delicate Steve during set-closer “Impregnable Question.” And while the sets drew mostly from 2009’s Bitte Orca through the new album, they reached back to their unique Black Flag tribute album Rise Above to play its title track on Monday night and “Police Story,” which opened the Sunday afternoon show and which they played a couple of other times this year (after leaving it out of their setlists for years).
