Django Django @ Bowery Ballroom - 10/2/12
Scottish four-piece and Mercury Prize nominees Django Django wowed their largest NYC crowd to date (this was the third area show in the band's short history) for a sold out show at Bowery Ballroom last night (10/2). They played 12 of the 13 gorgeously crafted pop songs from their self titled album (leaving out "Zumm Zumm"). The pounding rhythms supported by layered harmony/melody collaborations kept the Bowery Ballroom crowd shuffling their feet and waving their smart phones aloft all night long. The highlight of the evening was the crowd's reaction to the altered and extended riff section from single "Default." They apologized for only playing an hour-long set but reminded the audience that they only had one album's worth of material.
Django Django's North American tour wraps up with another NYC show on Thursday (10/4) at Knitting Factory with Eraas, then they'll head back to the UK for some dates over there. Tickets for the Knitting Factory show are still available.
Electropop outfit Lemonade opened last night's show. More pictures of both bands and Django Django's setlist are below.
