Doe Paoro made a video for her Hercules & Love Affair cover, on tour now
Brooklyn singer/songwriter Doe Paoro released her new album Soft Power in October via ANTI-, and now she has followed it with a video for her cover of Hercules and Love Affair and ANOHNI's 2008 classic "Blind," which she originally put out as a standalone single last year. If you haven't heard Doe's version, she takes the danceable original and turns it into something completely different, stripping it of drums entirely and re-imagining it as a quiet piano ballad with sweeping strings and gentle horn stabs. Speaking about the new video, Doe said, "This song comes from such a heart-centered space and I wanted the video to embody that, so I took footage from my iPhone that I had taken of my friends, family, and lovers and found the moments I felt most moving." The video makes its premiere below.
Doe is on tour as we speak, taking tonight (12/10) off and then picking things back up with a hometown show on Tuesday (12/11) at Rough Trade with Coyle Girelli (tickets). All remaining dates are listed below.
