Dolly Parton has new Netflix series, playing NYC with Nile Rodgers & Chic
Dolly Parton is a great songwriter and storyteller, and her many memorable country classics are now inspiration for new Netflix series Dolly Parton's Heartstrings. Each episode is inspired by a different song from her catalog, including “Jolene,” “These Old Bones,” “Cracker Jack” and “Two Doors Down.” The cast includes Ginnifer Goodwin (Why Women Kill, Big Love), Kathleen Turner (Romancing the Stone), Gerald McRaney (This is Us, Deadwood) and his wife Delta Burke (Designing Women), Melissa Leo (The Fighter, Homicide: Life on the Street), Vanessa Rubio (Cobra Kai), fellow country star Mac Davis, and more. Dolly Parton's Heartstrings will debut on Netflix on November 22.
Before that, Dolly will play NYC's Hammerstein Ballroom on November 5 with Nile Rodgers & Chic. It's benefit for Rodgers' We Are Family Foundation that "powers youth around the world who are changing the game with their ideas, innovations and social good solutions." The night is also honoring Parton, as well as Jean Paul Gaultier, and there is a gala dinner before the show. Tickets, with options that include the (pricy but tax deductible) dinner, or just the afterparty with Dolly and Chic, are on sale now.
Nile Rodgers & Chic are also on tour with Cher and have two NYC shows at Madison Square Garden in December.
