Dominic Angelella has been a staple of the Philly scene for years. He leads the band DRGN KING, he's one half of Lithuania (with Eric Slick of Dr. Dog), he's currently playing bass in mewithoutYou, and he's also played in Hop Along, among other projects. He's also an in-demand session musician who played keys on Kendrick Lamar's untitled unmastered. This Friday (2/3), he'll release a solo album under the name Dominic called Goodnight Doggies, on Lame-O Records (pre-order). Here's some of what Hop Along singer Frances Quinlan has to say about the record:

Emotions are therefore allowed to be the unabashed lead character of these songs. While they are indeed often sad, they are colorful and fascinating. There is a permeating sense of complicated loss and mundane struggle, which is what makes it a very honest record. Singular notes of a piano play with a sweetness that cannot help but stick with you, overtop a humble and steady beat, with vocals that may remind one of the friendly rasp of Jeff Tweedy.

We're premiering a full stream of the album, which you can listen to below.

Dominic is also playing a few shows this week to celebrate the release, including New Haven on Wednesday (2/1), Philly on Friday (2/3), and NYC on Saturday (2/4).

The NYC show was supposed to be at Shea Stadium, but that venue is now closed for two weeks. Stay tuned for updates on a new venue. It's with Norwegian Arms, Bueno, and Triathalon (solo).

UPDATE: The Brooklyn show is at The Gateway.
