Don Giovanni Records recently revealed they would throw a festival called The New Alternative Music Festival this fall in Asbury Park, and now it's officially announced. Billed as "three days of music without multi-nationals," the fest most excitingly includes another reunion from PS Eliot (pre-Waxahatchee, Swearin'), plus Ought, Mirah, Girlpool, Radiator Hospital, Daniel Bachman, and plenty of the label's bands such as Screaming Females, Downtown Boys, Big Eyes, California X, Aye Nako, Worriers, Laura Stevenson, Tenement and more. Plus more TBA.

This is the first and only time NAMF will be happening. More on the festival's mission, via press release:

The New Alternative Music Festival is not just a concert it is also an intentional event. It’s an attempt to gather together bands with diverse sounds and common values. The performers are independent artists without ties to major labels or corporate music distribution. There will be no sponsors, no backdoor advertising via branded content, or other base money-making schemes.

This is a pro-weirdo event held in direct opposition to the apolitical sludge that has come to pass as “indie” and that has nothing to do with operating independently. Where many festival bills are structured to reflect critical acclaim, the NAMF lineup is meant to reflect a community. In addition to making great music, many of these artists are involved because they are peers, tourmates, and friends.

The fest goes down September 16-18 at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park. TIckets are on sale, at $28 for single-day passes and $75 for three-day passes. Full initial lineup below.
