Good news for fans of classic Ohio indie rock. Doug Gillard is returning to the Guided by Voices fold for both a new album they'll record this fall, as well as their upcoming tour which currently doesn't have a NYC date (they played 4Knots earlier this month). Gillard, who is also a member of Nada Surf, was in GBV from 1997 - 2005. The GBV lineup will be Robert Pollard, Gillard, Kevin March, Bobby Bare Jr, and Mark Shue. All tour dates are listed below.

Meanwhile, Pollard and Gillard have started another new group, called ESP Ohio, that also includes current GBV bassist Shue and drummer Travis Harrison. They've got a couple singles out this fall, but you can hear one of their songs right now, the horn-flecked "Royal Cyclopean." You can stream that, via Stereogum, below.

"Royal Cyclopean" will be out as a single October 21 via Rockathon Records.
