Drake

Drake blended with Tchaikovsky, remixed by Nicki Minaj, turned into lullabies

Drake has has been involved in some high profile beefs (and beef resolutions) lately — Pusha-T, Kanye West and Meek Mill to name a few — and it seems that Nicki Minaj may now also be taking shots at the Canadian rapper. In her recent video for “Hard White,”, a scorpion – Drake’s sign, and the name of his 2018 album – is shown breaking into pieces around the 1:33 mark. Now Nicki has shared two new remixes that she’s added freestyle verses to, and one of them is Meek Mill‘s Drake-featuring “Going Bad.” Nicki’s version, “Barbie Going Bad,” seems to reference Drake with a mirrored line of his from the original (“I got more slaps than Aretha”) and references to “old boy” (Meek) and “brother” (Drake.) Listen to “Barbie Going Bad” below.

Drake also made a surprise appearance at A$AP Rocky‘s show at The Forum in LA on Thursday (1/31), where he performed “Nonstop” and his verses from Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” (ahead of Travis’s Super Bowl Halftime performance). Watch clips from that below.

Meanwhile, there are a couple of upcoming opportunities to hear Drake’s music in unexpected ways. Steve Hackman‘s 60-piece Stereo Hideout Orchestra, along with soloists India Carney, Malia Civetz, Mario Jose and Jecorey ‘1200’ Arthur, and special guests the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, are blending Drake’s work with Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony for “Tchaikovsky v Drake” at Kings Theatre on February 22. Tickets are on sale now.

A new album album of Drake’s music in lullaby form will also be released on February 22, from Rockabye Baby, who have also turned countless artist catalogs — including Jay Z, Metallica, The Smiths, Bjork, Lady Gaga, Nirvana, and Tom Petty — into sleeping baby fodder.
