drive-in concerts happening at Texas Rangers' baseball stadium in June
Drive-in concerts continue to be an idea the entertainment industry is toying with during these unprecedented times, and MLB team the Texas Rangers have just announced the largest-scale U.S. drive-in concert series yet, Concert In Your Car, which happens in the parking lot of Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. So far, it includes Eli Young Band on 6/4, Whiskey Mykers on 6/5, Pat Green on 6/6, and Josh Abbott Band & Kevin Fowler on 6/7. The description reads, “The Concert in Your Car series, featuring nationally recognized recording artists, takes over Tundra Lot B from June 4-7. The event is designed to give music fans the live show experience, while still maintaining social distancing.”
As for what safety precautions are being taken, the FAQ reads:
All CDC and State of Texas guidelines will be followed, and we are working closely with Tarrant County and the City of Arlington to ensure this event meets or exceeds all recommended standards. We will leave every other parking space empty to ensure sufficient distance between you and surrounding vehicles. We ask that all guests remain in their vehicles for the duration of the performance. In the event it is necessary for a fan to leave their vehicle, safe social distancing will be strictly enforced. Failure to follow safe social distancing, or requests of staff members for participants to follow, will cause the participant to be subject to ejection. Event staff will be wearing personal protective equipment as required by CDC guidelines.
The FAQ also mentions that the concert audio will be transmitted via FM radio, attendees are asked to remain inside their vehicles (no truck beds or tailgating), and they also ask that bathroom use is minimized, but:
A limited number of restrooms will be available for use and guests who need to use the facilities must follow social distancing restrictions and instructional signs. Restroom use will be limited to one adult at a time. Small children may be accompanied by an adult. Handicap restrooms will be available, and all restrooms will be monitored by a housekeeping attendant to ensure surfaces are cleaned after each use.
