Earth announce new album & tour with Helms Alee, share new song
Drone metal greats Earth are back with a new album called Full Upon Her Burning Lips, which is due May 24 via Sargent House (pre-order). In a statement (via Pitchfork), Dylan Carlson said, “I wanted this to be a ‘sexy’ record, a record acknowledging the ‘witchy’ and ‘sensual’ aspects in the music. Sort of a ‘witch’s garden’ kind of theme, with references to mind altering plants and animals that people have always held superstitious beliefs towards. A conjuror or root doctor’s herbarium of songs, as it were.” The lead single is the mesmerizing “Cats on the Briar,” which you can hear below.
Earth have also announced a tour with psychedelic sludge band Helms Alee, who recently announced that their new album Noctiluca would be out April 26 via Sargent House and released the very promising lead single “Interachnid.”
This very cool double bill hits NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on June 19. Tickets for that show will be on sale soon. All dates are listed below.
