Ecstatic Music Fest began w/ Zola Jesus & wild Up (pics); Deerhoof play the next one

The 2019 Ecstatic Music Festival at NYC’s Kaufman Center began last night (1/7) with LA chamber orchestra wild Up, goth-pop great Zola Jesus and composer William Brittelle. Various combos of wild Up performed during the whole show, and Zola joined them to sing three of her own songs (two of which had new arrangements by JG Thrilwell), and she also sang on two of Brittelle’s compositions. Pictures are in the gallery above and you can check out the full setlist below.

Ecstatic Music Fest continues on February 16 with art rockers Deerhoof joined by percussion trio Tigue. After that, the fest has shows with Wye Oak/Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Irreversible Entanglements, and more. Full schedule and tickets here.
