Ecstatic Music, which pairs modern classical with pop and rock artists for one-of-a-kind collaborations, has expanded from being more of a concentrated festival running January to April, to a longer series with events happening throughout the year. The 10th season kicks off tonight (9/19) at Merkin Hall, with a collaboration between chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound and electronic artist Eartheater (aka Alexandra Drewchin). They'll perform Donnacha Dennehy's "The Hunger" as well as Eartheater's When Fire is Allowed to Finish (which was made in collaboration with Alarm Will Sound), and there will be a post-performance Q&A with Donnacha Dennehy (composer, The Hunger), Alan Pierson (Artistic Director, Alarm Will Sound) and Sister Mairead Barrett of INN (Interfaith Nutritional Network), and moderated by Dr. Maureen O’Rourke Murphy, historian and author of Compassionate Stranger, Asenath Nicholson and the Great Irish Famine. Tickets are on sale.

As for the rest of the Ecstatic Music season, which runs through May at Merkin Hall, it includes Gabi Moreno and LADAMA on December 2; the annual Bang on a Can People’s Commissioning Fund Concert on January 28; Missy Mazzoli and Kelly Moran on February 29; Bell Orchestre & Metropolis Ensemble on April 2 and more. Tickets for all events are on sale and you can buy a discounted season pass for all 10 concerts in the series. The full Ecstatic Music 10th Season lineup is below.
