Back in 2009, El Michels Affair -- the NYC instrumental/soul band with members of The Dap-Kings, The Menahan Street Band, The Budos Band, and more -- released Enter the 37th Chamber, an album of live-band Wu-Tang Clan covers. Now they're following it with another one, Return to the 37th Chamber, on April 14 via Big Crown Records (pre-order). The one and only Lee Fields provides guest vocals on "Snakes" and "Tearz," the latter of which also features Shannon Wise of The Shacks. Lady Wray appears on their version of Method Man's "All I Need."

The cover of "Tearz" premieres in this post. El Michels Affair said they paid as much homage to the song's sample of Wendy Rene's "After Laughter (Comes Tears)" as they did to the Wu-Tang song, and that comes across loud and clear. Check it out below. That song also comes out on a 7" single (backed by "Verbal Intercourse") on February 20 (pre-order).

Both The Shacks and Lee Fields are touring this year, including Boston, Philly and DC shows together. The Shacks have several NYC shows coming up (including the Brooklyn Bowl stop of Khruangbin's tour). Lee doesn't have any at the moment (he played here last month though), but he is playing Coachella. Wu-Tang Clan are playing NYC's Governors Ball.
