For the second year in a row, EDM, jam and more festival Electric Forest took over Rothbury, Michigan’s Sherwood Forest for two consecutive weekends (6/21-6/24 & 6/28-7/1). The festival, which is now in its eighth year, hosted String Cheese Incident (who have been there each year) and another returning headliner, Bassnectar, along with Cut Copy, !!!, Chromeo, Bonobo, Washed Out, A Tribe Called Red, Anna Luneo, Devin the Dude, Floating Points, Hiss Golden Messenger, Knox Fortune, Madame Gandhi, Mija, MK, Mr. Carmack, Green Velvet, Noname, Savoir Adore, Sinkane, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, and lots more. Check out pictures of the unique festival and its colorfully dressed attendees in the gallery above.

According to MLive, Electric Forest attracts a very wide range of ages in attendees, from just nine weeks old to the ripe old age of 78:

Nine-week-old Esher Narayan Ping wasn’t enjoying the festival so much as ignoring it while he napped wearing a pair of sound-canceling ear protectors in a vendor area on Sunday, June 24.

It was Esher’s third festival, having already attended Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and Firefly Music Festival. His parents, Mark “Bamboo” and JoJo Ping operate the Beet Box vegan food stand, attending up to 20 festivals a year.

“This is our life – he was born into it,” Mark Ping said.

On the other end of the spectrum, 78-year-old Gordon McLouth, of New Era, has attended Electric Forest every year.

“I have more fun than the kids,” he said. His favorite acts at the festival are Bassnectar and Dixon’s Violin, which are a good representation of the variety of music available.

If you run afoul of the law at Electric Forest, there’s a criminal defense lawyer waiting to take your case. As Brian Dailey, a self-proclaimed “experienced Michigan criminal defense lawyer,” who isn’t actually affiliated with the festival, says on his site, electricforestlawyers.com:

Were you arrested at Electric Forest? I can help. My name is Brian Dailey, and I am an experienced Michigan criminal defense lawyer.

I believe the music fans who are simply their to freely associate with like-mind people are very often unfairly targeted by local law enforcement.

I am here to help correct that injustice. My job is to help my clients avoid a criminal record that will show up on a background check, and other serious consequences that can result from a criminal conviction.

The good news is that this is very doable in most cases of minor misdemeanor charges like drug possession, and even more serious felony incidents. There are always legal defense options.
