Elway releasing 'For The Sake Of The Bit' (watch the "Hold On" video)

Colorado punks Elway recently announced a tour with the back-in-action Dead To Me and revealed that a new album is coming this year, and now details on that album are here. It’s a self-produced album called For The Sake Of The Bit, and according to the album description on their label Red Scare’s website, this LP “takes aim at the critics, naysayers, and scenester shit-talkers.”

We’re premiering the first single from the record, along with its video, “Hold On.” It’s a ripping dose of melodic, gravelly-voiced punk rock with a fist-and-beer-raised gang vocal chorus that Iron Chic fans are gonna dig. Here’s what guitarist/vocalist Tim Browne tells us about it:

This is a song I wrote about one frigid January night when I had to have our bassist Joe come meet me at an impound lot in Chicago to get our freshly-towed shuttle bus out for the low price of about four times what we take home on a six week tour. The bus wouldn’t start because it was too cold and I looked over and caught a glance of Joe’s agonized face and swore inwardly that I was the most sorry a human could ever be for anything for convincing him to be in this band. Needless to say, it’s only gotten better from there.

Watch the video below. The album comes out April 27 via Red Scare (pre-order).

As mentioned, Elway’s tour with Dead To Me hits Brooklyn on May 19 at The Kingsland (tickets). The whole tour is also with Mexico’s DFMK and the Brooklyn show has additional support from Ramona. All dates are listed below.
