Not to make a horrible pun, but Brooklyn-via-New Orleans singer/songwriter Erin Durant indeed has an “Old Soul,” the name of the song we’re premiering her new video for. She’s inspired by the folk and blues music of an era long before she was born, and her 2016 album Blueberry Mountain — which was recorded live to tape — has a raw sound that hearkens back to decades past as well. Erin plays piano and sings, and the NY Times points out that she actually insists on taking her own 232-pound upright piano to each gig she plays. That should give you an idea of the kind of music you’re getting from Erin, and she delivers it with expertise. Get a taste for yourself by watching the video for “Old Soul” (made by Heidi Ferrell & Aaron Cassara) and streaming all of Blueberry Mountain below. Erin has a new album in the works for 2018.

Erin has played local shows with some true folk legends, including Ed Askew and Kath Bloom. She plays with Kath again TONIGHT (8/11) at Sunnyvale in Brooklyn, and that show also includes freak folk great Diane Cluck (tickets).

Erin also plays a free Sunday afternoon show at Union Pool on August 27 with Baby Copperhead and Garrett Devoe + Jessica Pavone.
