New Orleans' Essence Festival returns with its 2018 edition July 5-8 at the New Orleans Convention Center and Superdome. The annual festival was created in 1995 to celebrate the long-running magazine Essence, and highlights the biggest names in black music. This year's lineup was curated by The Roots, and is headlined by Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Snoop Dogg, and Jill Scott.

The festival's lineup also includes Miguel, Kelela, dvsn, Marsha Ambrosius, Idris Elba, MC Lyte, and more to be announced. Aside from the evening concerts, Essence Festival also has free daytime events, including talks and a fashion expo. Tickets are on sale now, and the full lineup so far is listed below.

Janet Jackson is also set to headline the 2018 edition of Panorama NYC later this year.
