Eternal Summers’ Nicole Yun preps solo debut (listen to “Supernatural Babe”)
Eternal Summers singer/guitarist Nicole Yun will release her solo debut, Paper Suit, on June 7 via Kanine. Nicole made the album in NYC and Philadelphia and the record includes appearances by Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices/Nada Surf), Joe Boyer (ex Cloud Nothings) and Duncan Lloyd (Maximo Park). Nicole's Britpop influences come out here and you can hear everything from the Stone Roses to Elastica, though Nicole herself thinks the album sounds like "a me-fronted Lemonheads." You can listen to the first two songs on the album -- the Madchester-y "Tommie" (which she released last year) and the bright, sparkling "Supernatural Babe," which premieres in this post. Listen to those below.
Nicole has a Brooklyn record release show at Alphaville on June 13 which is with Peel Dream Magazine and The Wrens' Charles Bissell. Nicole's band for the show will include Doug Gillard, Joy Boyer, Julian Fader (who produced part of the album), Jacob Sloan (TPOBPAH), and more. Check out the flyer for the show below.
