Ethan Embry has a score to settle with GWAR, two decades after 'Empire Records'

One of the most memorable scenes from the 1995 film Empire Records happens when Mark, played by Ethan Embry, eats a pot brownie while watching GWAR‘s video for “Sadam A-Go-Go.” Mark imagines himself being invited onstage and joining the band… until he’s consumed by the World Maggot. “Aw man, Mark man, you play a mean guitar, man,” Oderus Urungus says. “It’s really a shame that YOU MUST DIE.” Watch the classic scene below.

Mark seems entertained by this course of events in the film, but apparently Ethan has been plotting his revenge ever since. Seeing GWAR announced as part of the 2019 Riot Fest lineup, he took to Twitter, writing, “I see GWAR is added to the hellscape of @RiotFest. I have a 25 year score to settle with a gluttonous virgin eating worm. See you in Mud City @gwar!” Technically, Ethan, it’s 24 years but close enough.

Does this mean Mark was a virgin? A twitter user wondered the same thing, and Mark responded, “he was before the party. After I couldn’t say..”
