The demented minds of cut-and-paste video collective Everything is Terrible are currently touring their latest work, The Great Satan:

Now, with their longtime collaborator Lucifer, Everything Is Terrible! has ingested over 2,000 satanic panic, religious kook, and D-horror VHS tapes. They have recontextualized them and created a narrative feature that reminds us all who we are, why we are here, and what we should be doing with our paltry time on this dumb planet.

The Great Satan tour hit Chicago’s Lincoln Hall on February 20. More than just a collective weird-video-watching experience, Everything is Terrible flanked the screen with upside-down crosses made from VHS copies of Jerry Maguire (they are currently trying to acquire every known copy in the world), and the evening was split into three parts, with a skit introducing each.

The videos told the story of Satan in EIT’s particular chopped-up style, with frenetic editing, making connections between seemingly random bits of footage. The segments also included some original songs. At the end of the night, the audience was informed that they were part of an occult initiation ceremony that involved a sacrifice. Check out pics from the Chicago show in the gallery above.

The Great Satan tour hits NYC on March 1 at The Bell House (tickets).
