Ex Hex announce new album & tour (listen to "Cosmic Cave")

Ex Hex, aka the power trio of Mary Timony, Betsy Wright and Laura Harris, are finally back with a follow-up to their great 2014 debut, Rips. (Has it really been that long?) The new LP is called It’s Real, will be out March 22 via Merge and you don’t have to wait till then to hear the first single. “Cosmic Cave” adds a little melancholic vibrato guitar to their glammy, punky sound — there’s a little Only Ones and Buzzcocks in there too. You can catch Ex Hex on an extensive North American tour this spring, including dates with Moaning and Feels. There are two NYC shows: April 4 at Bowery Ballroom with Moaning and Elsewhere Hall on May 9 with Feels. Tickets for Bowery are on Citi cardmember presale now and go on sale the general public on Friday, January 11 at noon. Tickets for Elsewhere go on sale Friday at 10 AM.

Meanwhile, Mary Timony’s newest band, Hammered Hulls (whose lineup also includes other DC punk/indie vets), makes their Brooklyn debut on Thursday at a sold-out Union Pool show that also includes SAVAK and the live debut of Fake Names (which includes members of Minor Threat, Refused and more).
