Toronto’s Fake Palms released their self-titled debut album on Buzz Records last summer. Here’s what Bill said about it then:
In the same dissonant universe as Viet Cong (or Women), Fake Palms’ style is a little less obtuse, with an ear towards straightforward hooks. (“Pop” might be the wrong word but they write some very catchy songs.) If you dig dark post-punk you should definitely check it out.
They’ve now made a thematically appropriate video for opening track “Fever Dreams,” which splices together several clips of paranoid-looking people abruptly waking from (presumably fever-induced) dreams. Check out the Joel Barnes/Fawcett Sharpe-directed video below.
Fake Palms have dates coming up, including a Northside show with The Numerators. That happens June 9 at Alphaville, also with Bueno and Twist. Tickets for that show are still available. All dates are listed below.
