With it’s opening couplet of “Bedding Taylor Swift / Every night inside the Oculus Rift,” Father John Misty’s “Total Entertainment Forever” was already controversial to some, and the just-released video for the song is likely to push even more buttons. The video was directed by Adam Green and “shot on location at a McDonald’s in Florence.” If you’ve seen Adam Green’s movie Aladdin, it’s very much from the same DIY paper mache universe and features FJM as some sort of dictator dressed in familiar red and yellow attire, plus Macaulay Culkin as a very Kurt Cobain-esque martyr, as well as stand-ins for Bill Clinton and Jon from Garfield. You might also spy Har Mar Superstar, Toby Goodshank and Tei Shi in there as well. Watch below.

Father John Misty’s 2017 tour starts next week and includes three sold-out NYC shows in May, and he’ll play Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre on September 14 with Phosphorescent (tickets). More dates have been added too — all are listed below.
