Frank Ocean PrEP+

Frank Ocean doing another PrEP+ night in NYC tonight with Arca, Shyboi & more

Last Thursday (10/17), the first edition of Frank Ocean‘s new club night PrEP+ (named “as an homage to what could have been of the 1980s’ NYC club scene if the drug PrEP [pre-exposure prophylaxis] — which can be taken daily to prevent HIV/AIDs for those who are not infected but are at high risk — had been invented in that era”) went down at Knockdown Center’s BASEMENT in Maspeth, Queens, and new Frank Ocean music was debuted at the party, though it was also met with some backlash that the event didn’t actually feel queer, and rumors circulated that the party was funded by PrEP patent holder Gilead Sciences. Frank released a statement saying that Gilead Sciences were not funding the party, and now he announced a second edition for tonight (10/24) at BASEMENT with an all-queer lineup of Arca, Leeon, Papi Juice, and Shyboi. Tickets are already gone, but they’re saying more tickets might be released later today.

After last week’s party, Frank officially released a new Boys Noize-produced single, “DHL.” He recently said that he has a new album in the works that’s influenced by “Detroit, Chicago, techno, house, French electronic” and other “iterations of nightlife.”
