UK folk punk Frank Turner is in the midst of playing some US shows, and having just wrapped up dates with varying support from Murder By Death, Against Me!, Tim Barry, and Rebuilder, he’s now gearing up for this weekend’s Lost Evenings II in Boston with Loudon Wainwright III, The Hold Steady, John K Samson, and Against Me!.

We caught his Long Island show at The Paramount on Saturday (5/11) with Murder by Death and Tim Barry. Tim Barry started off the night and incorporated a nice amount of crowd involvement. At one point, for his song “Walk 500 Miles,” he had the crowd add in the line “fucking fine.” Apparently, someone at a show a few years back shouted that in response to the lyrics, and he made it part of the live song.

Murder By Death was truly phenomenal, and their hard rock + classical + (slight) jam elements made for a great segue into Frank’s set. Frank made a grand entrance, walking from the back of the venue through the crowd with a spotlight on him, almost like a cabaret performer. He played tons of favorites throughout his 25-song set, with songs from his 2007 solo debut Sleep Is For The Week up through last year’s Be More Kind. His full setlist is below. Pictures are in the gallery above.

Meanwhile for Tim Barry, his band AVAIL are about to get back together for their first shows in 12 years.
