Poets House is a national poetry library and literary center that invites poets and the public to step into the living tradition of poetry. In late 2008, Poets House will move to its permanent home at Two River Terrace in Battery Park City. Singer/songwriter Jill Sobule rose to fame with the hit single "I Kissed a Girl". Sobule has dabbled in off-Broadway musicals, made an appearance on NBC's "West Wing", composed for Nickelodeon, and was in the film "Mind the Gap".

Orchestra Baobab is a Senegalese Afro-Cuban band, and among the most important world music artists of today. Organized as a multi-ethnic, multi-national club band, their 2002 album "Specialist in All Styles" was produced by fellow Senegalese superstar Youssou N'dour.

Steel Pulse is one of Great Britain's greatest reggae bands, "Handsworth Revolution", is still regarded by many critics a high point of British reggae. 1986's "Babylon the Bandit" won the Grammy® for Best Reggae Album. They also contributed the track "Can't Stand It" for Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing."

After Nickel Creek disbanded, mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile assembled the all-star quintet Punch Brothers. The new group issued a debut album, "Punch," in 2008, which was anchored by Thile's ambitious 40-minute, four-part suite "The Blind Leaving the Blind." In February 2008, The Punch Brothers performed a sold-out concert for Lincoln Center's American Songbook series.
