French 'Bulupunk' band 10LEC6 sign to Ed Banger, share groovy NSFW video (watch!)

French band 10LEC6 are the newest group to sign to Ed Banger Records. The band was founded over a decade ago by French street artist Simon Bernheim, who soon brought in Jean-Sebastien Bernard (aka Jess from veteran DJ duo Jess & Crabbe) on drums, and the two of them have remained through various lineup changes. Their current singer is Nicole Adjabe, and she has a style that rotates between gospel singing, rapping, and shouting, and she sings in the Bulu language. Thus, this incarnation of the band have dubbed themselves “bulupunk.” The band also currently includes percussionists Erwan Loeffel and Gaëlle Salomon.

10LEC6’s first release for Ed Banger is the Bedjem Mebok EP, which features the title track and a series of remixes. One of the remixes is by JD Twitch (aka one half of Optimo). This is how the band describes the “Bedjem Mebok” video:

“Bedjem Mebok” is a bulu generic term, which means “entertainers.” Our friend and contemporary artist, Theodore Fivel, directed the video. It was shot around his sculpture in the middle of a forest, which is also a bread oven, and it gave him the idea of a pagan ritual. Theodore has been inspired by a drawing of the famous French comic artist, Philippe Druillet, who accepted to design our EP cover.
