Frigs played M for Montreal, on tour now (2 NYC shows)
Toronto's Frigs were one of the standout new acts to play this past weekend's M for Montreal festival with their dark, almost soulful take on post punk. Bria Salmela is a firebrand frontperson possessing a commanding voice that can go from smoky cool to full-on wail, and who had folks' attention from the start at their 11/17 performance at Cafe Cleoptra during the fest. The band's new EP, Slush, came out via Arts & Crafts and you can stream the whole thing below.
M for Montreal was the start of a short East Coast tour for Frigs, who are out with fellow Torontonians WHIMM and will play two NYC shows as part of it: Tuesday, November 22 at Silent Barn with Gingerlys, Ritual Humor, and Winkie ($10 at the door); and then Elvis Guesthouse on Wednesday, November 23 with Hari Kanari (tickets).
