After taking some time away from releasing albums, and not touring as much, hardcore boundary pushers Fucked Up are finally back in full force. They're releasing a double album, Dose Your Dreams -- their first album since 2014's Glass Boys -- on October 5, and it's their first album for Merge Records, following three on Matador. (Arts & Crafts is releasing it in Canada.) Here's what collaborator Owen Pallett had to say about this album:

I was sent an unfinished version of Dose Your Dreams so that I might contribute string parts. I couldn’t stop listening to the rough mixes I received. A friend asked me how the record was. I replied, “My God, Fucked Up have made their Screamadelica.”

And psych-rock-groove it is. The drums mixed wide, propensity for drones, for delay pedal, for repetition, groove. The politics and aesthetics of hardcore married to an “open format” approach to genre. Elements of doo-wop, krautrock, groove, digital hardcore.

The first taste of this is "Raise Your Voice Joyce," which is the kind of retro-futuristic hardcore Fucked Up usually make, but then the video also includes anothe rsong, "Two I's Closed," which sounds more like late '60s psychedelic British Invasion. Watch the lyric video (which has more going on than your average lyric video) below.

Fucked Up also announced a North American fall tour, including a Brooklyn show on November 8 at Market Hotel. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (7/27) at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.
