Gang of Youths‘ 2017 sophomore album Go Farther in Lightness is already pretty big in their home country of Australia (it debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts and won the ARIA Music Award for Album of the Year), and it seems to be gradually catching on in the States too. The album’s got 16 songs that clock in at 75 minutes, so it requires some patience, but it’s pretty rewarding. Gang of Youths sorta find the middle ground between Springsteen and The National, and they write the kinds of songs that seem built for rock radio and big venues. If you haven’t heard the album, you can stream it below, along with the recently-released video for “The Heart Is A Muscle” (which was filmed during their sold-out Australian tour).
Gang of Youths have now announced a North American tour, which begins with a few appearances at SXSW. The tour hits NYC on March 25 at Bowery Ballroom. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (12/15) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (12/13) at noon. All dates are listed below.
Go Farther In Lightness will also be out on vinyl in the US via Red Music this March, to coincide with the tour.
