Gene Wilder classics 'Willy Wonka' & 'Blazing Saddles' returning to theaters Labor Day Weekend

We lost comedy great Gene Wilder this week and in tribute, two of his most iconic films — Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and Blazing Saddles — are returning to theaters this weekend. Willy Wonka will be on about 200 screens nationwide, and in NYC you can catch it at the Regal Union Square and E-Walk theaters on Saturday, September. It’s also showing at Metrograph in 35mm from Saturday – Monday, September 5 (tickets).

Blazing Saddles, meanwhile, is being shown on about 60 screens nationwide and you can see it in NYC on Saturday at AMC Empire at 7 PM. (tickets).

Blazing Saddles is also screening tonight at Radio City Music Hall which is being introduced by Mel Brooks who will also be in conversation. It’s sure to be a great, bittersweet night. Sold out, but you can watch Mel talk about Gene and Blazing Saddles on Jimmy Fallon below.

Meanwhile, Turner Classic Movies will pay tribute to Wilder on September 29 with a full night of programming, including Young Frankenstein, The Frisco Kid, Start the Revolution Without Me and his first film role, Bonnie and Clyde.
