Get Up Kids' Matt Pryor & Alkaline Trio's Dan Andriano cover "Cecilia" (listen)
Get Up Kids frontman Matt Pryor and Alkaline Trio’s Dan Andriano are touring together this year and they’re also releasing a 7″ that will be available at their upcoming shows. The 7″ includes Matt and Dan teaming up for a cover of Simon & Garfunkel‘s “Cecilia.” Here’s what Dan tells us about it:
“Cecilia” is a song that Matt, myself, and the other fellas on last year’s ‘Where’s The Band?” Tour talked about trying as a collective cover song for the show each night. I think Matt was the one who suggested it. We ended up going with an Orbison tune, but “Cecilia” stuck in my head as good one to try down the road. So when we decided to collaborate for this split, that was an easy choice for something to try…such a fun tune.
Matt’s a cool dude that I’ve known for a long time, and somebody that I’ve always dug as a songwriter. The longer I do this, the more I enjoy working with other people in various capacities…so when this idea of touring together came up, it was a natural step for us to try some recording together. And I’m pretty sure we’ll both be on stage at the same time for a good amount of the set this spring…
“Couldn’t have said it better myself!” Matt adds. Matt and Dan sound pretty great on this cover, which premieres below.
As mentioned, the tour hits NYC on April 21 at Saint Vitus. Tickets for that show are still available. All dates are listed below.
Matt is also releasing a new solo album, Memento Mori, on February 17 via Equal Vision/Rory Records.
