Ghost Bath announce tour dates

North Dakota-based black metal band Ghost Bath have been building considerable buzz since way back in early 2015, when their particular brand of anthemic, melodic, shoegaze-y black metal was still riding the post-Deafheaven wave of popularity. They have something of a weird internet origin story, since as recently as 2015 when they first dropped songs from their second LP Moonlover, blogs were still under the impression that they were from China. Yes: they pretended to be Chinese in order to build buzz. And maybe it worked, as there was indeed buzz, although I would like to think that said buzz had more to do with the extremely catchy music (or the fact that the main riff on their much-lauded song “Golden Number” sounds exactly like the hook from “Walk of Life” by Dire Straits) than whatever country they happened to be from. All that being said: Ghost Bath have a West Coast tour coming up with He Whose Ox Is Gored and Underling, and they’ve additionally scheduled some East Coast dates in September. If you’re a fan of Deafheaven or Woods of Desolation but haven’t seen these guys, this is worth checking out.

They’ll be in NYC as part of that September run. You can catch them and see what all the buzz is about in person when they hit The Studio at Webster Hall on September 17, where they’ll be joined by tour-mates Frosthelm and Numenorean. Tickets for that are on sale now.
